Words from Andrew (as featured in the May 2020 issue of our Employee Benefit Plans newsletter):

“With the evolution of 401(k) plans, new emerging challenges lay ahead for plan sponsors. Technological advances in plan service offerings appear to be at the forefront of many of these changes. For example, technology improvements will allow participants to further customize their investment options and help them become more engaged. However, these expected improvements in technology don’t come without added cost. Additionally, participants continue to stress the importance of adding and enhancing websites and tools while reducing fees, which is a significant challenge for both plan service providers and sponsors. As part of their fiduciary responsibilities, plan sponsors should keep up with trends and emerging technologies to help them ensure their plan is effective and efficient.”
