Samantha Liau, CPA, has over ten years of public accounting experience in both the United States and Malaysia. In addition to her work with nonprofit organizations, she manages audit, review and compilation engagements for private companies in a variety of industries, including: distribution, manufacturing, software, professional service, real estate, and construction. She has experience working with subsidiary corporations of publicly-traded companies in Japan based in the United States. Samantha also manages the audits of retirement benefit plans for the firm.
After locating to the Bay Area in 2007, Samantha worked for five years with a large regional accounting firm. Prior to that, she worked for four years at KPMG in Malaysia where she oversaw multiple audit and assurance engagements in construction, property development, investment holdings, and hospitality. She was responsible for supervising a team of senior and staff accountants, auditing high risk areas for private clients, and executing tests on internal controls.
Samantha earned her Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance, from The University of Melbourne in Australia. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California, a Certified Practicing Accountant in Australia, and a Chartered Accountant in Malaysia. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Samantha is fluent in English, Mandarin, Malay and other Chinese dialects like Cantonese and Hakka.
