Shea Labagh Dobberstein was founded by Paul Shea in 1944. Times have certainly changed since then! The Bay Area has turbocharged its growth, fueled by the tech sector, and – with a GDP of $535 billion – it now lists 19th in the world when ranked against national economies. As Herb Caen famously wrote, “San Francisco isn’t what it used to be, and it never was.”
The firm is proud to be part of the Bay Area’s history as it marks its 75th year in business in 2019. As one can imagine, technology has changed the CPA profession substantially over this period. The milestone is testament to the firm’s stability, experience, and growth.
The history of Shea Labagh Dobberstein is more than the story of a public accounting firm’s growth from a two-person firm to a Top 200 Firm in the country (INSIDE Public Accounting, 2018). It is the story of hundreds of businesses and thousands of people that the firm has enriched and made a difference. The longevity of Shea Labagh Dobberstein would be impossible without the support of our clients, employees and friends. We look forward to making a lasting, positive impact as we strive to ensure that the 21st century offers a brilliant future. I am honored to serve as Managing Principal of a firm with a legacy that is 75 years strong, and sure that Paul Shea, our founder, would be proud of the firm today.
