Financial Advisory Services

In response to the economic crisis in California, the CPA firm of Shea Labagh Dobberstein (SLD) has formed a rapid-response Financial Advisory Services practice to provide accounting and other financial reporting services to troubled companies.

SLD has helped clients through 12 recessions since the firm’s founding in 1944 - including the Great Recession of 2007-2009.

Our objective is to help business clients navigate these unchartered waters by assisting in the following areas of accounting and financial advisory:

  • Thirteen (13)-week cash flow projections
  • Preparation of financial schedules and other statements for lenders and investors
  • Analysis of inventory, accounts receivables and accounts payables
  • Analysis of cost structure
  • Advising on capital structure
  • Coordination with lenders, investors and other stakeholders
  • Task Force leadership coordinating management, auditors, attorneys
  • Assist in obtaining debt and/or equity funding as appropriate
  • Project management for companies looking to exit to private equity or strategic buyers


Financial Advisory Services Team


The FAS Practice is led by Bill Wright, Principal; Macaire Kilkenny, Senior Manager; and Tina Lin, Manager.

Bill Wright, CTA, MBA

Bill is a Principal at Shea Labagh Dobberstein. He serves as the firm’s senior M&A consultant assisting clients in sell-side engagements, locating debt sources and managing post-merger litigation support. Bill also oversees the firm’s business development and marketing activities.

Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Bill had a 30-year career as an M&A accounting and finance executive, a turnaround CFO, a turnaround private equity investor and a commercial banker. He was previously with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bank of America and Recovery Equity Partners and holds an MBA from Thunderbird Graduate School. Bill is a Certified Turnaround Analyst and is a member of the Turnaround Management Association.

Macaire Kilkenny, CPA

Macaire has been with Shea Labagh Dobberstein for 14 years serving most recently as the Senior Manager and Audit Team Leader for numerous clients in manufacturing, distribution, and food & beverage service industries. Her accounting and advisory work has included preparation of cash flow forecasts, financial statements, internal controls analysis and risk assessment.

Macaire brings to the FAS practice a unique ability to bridge the gap between a client’s in-house accounting team and management and owners. Macaire holds a B.S. in Business Economics from UC Santa Barbara, is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the California Society of CPAs.

Tina Lin, CPA, CTA

Tina is a Manager at Shea Labagh Dobberstein bringing 10 years of financial modeling, financial analysis, auditing and business process evaluation to public and private multi-national and domestic companies.

Tina earned her MBA at Johns Hopkins with a double concentration in Enterprise Risk Management and Health Care Management. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin with a double major in Accounting and Finance/Investment/Banking. Tina is a Certified Public Accountant, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Turnaround Management Association.

In addition to the FAS Leadership Team, other specialists are available to clients on an as-needed basis with extensive experience in the areas of taxation, investigation, business advisory, outsourced accounting and local compliance.

Rob Boragno, CPA, CGMA

Rob is a Director at SLD and brings 40 years of experience in accounting, assurance, operational management and litigation support services working with in retail, real estate, agriculture, technology, distribution and hospitality. He is an expert in investigative services for causation of damages, study of internal control environments and financial reporting.

Prior to joining SLD, Rob held the position of VP-Finance for publicly-traded real estate investment trusts and real estate limited partnerships. He is a Chartered Global Management Accountant, a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs. Rob is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Rob holds a B.S. in Commerce degree in Accounting from Santa Clara University.

Ed Hanley

Ed is a Principal at SLD and brings 35 years of experience in public accounting providing tax services and business advice to privately-held companies in real estate, hospitality, distribution, food and beverage and business services. His legal background provides additional perspective to tax planning.

Prior to joining SLD, Ed held positions at Ernst & Young including in the National Tax Practice, the National Real Estate group and also served as tax counsel at GE Capital Corporation. Ed holds a law degree from Boston College Law School and a Bachelor’s in History & Economics from Harvard College. Ed was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1986.

Ron Simonian, CPA

Ron brings 35 years of accounting and advisory experience focusing on strategic business and tax planning, budgetary analysis, merger and acquisition consulting and auditing with particular focus on distribution, engineering, real estate, construction and food service industries. Ron’s career spans his work at SLD and at a national accounting firm.

Ron is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs. He holds a Bachelors in Business Economics from UC Santa Barbara.

Lisa Lubag

Lisa brings 30 years of experience in a wide variety of industries providing financial oversight and consulting services, including overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, periodic closings, and the production of internally-generated and compiled financial statements.

Lisa has expertise in setting up accounting systems and procedures, training client personnel and identifying ways to improve control and efficiency. She prepares and represents clients with various Employee and Local tax compliance matters. Lisa is proficient in Mas90, Netsuite, Great Plains and Xero, Quickbooks Enterprise/Premier.

Lisa earned her B.S. in Business Administration and Management from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. She is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor member.
